If he had died near the apex or even within 5 years of the apex of his admittedly brilliant career, I would’ve cared. But, honestly… I can endure most random interviews on the subject, but – LIZA freaking MINELLI !?!?!? “And he was just such an inspiration and blablabla and blablabla and years later they were calling it the moonwalk!!!” gihhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..
So Michael Jackson dies after a decade-and-a-half of starkly unsettling behaviour.
Farrah Fawcett dies of anal cancer.
David Carradine dies of autoerotic asphyxiation.
Ed MacMahon dies from… I haven’t researched it, but I’m just going to believe it was something awesome and non-gross, just to break the pattern. Let’s say he crashed his jet-ski into a den of mountain lions.
Still not as traumatizing as the spring of 1998, where we lost Frank Sinatra, Phil Hartman, and Desmond Llewelyn (Q from James Bond). If it weren’t for the advent of Starcraft, I dunno how I would’ve kept it together.

As it’s ‹‹ SOLDES ››, the biannual nationwide French supersale, we decided to hit some of the biggest stores on the Grands Boulevards for some windowshopping. We might’ve actually purchased some things (a gorgeous Claude Dozorme cheeseknife, for example… yes, I covet a cheeseknife) but the 40% discounts are immediately neutralized by the -40% disadvantage of buying with USD. Hi John S.:We here in AZ are interested in your writing. Your recounting of your activities, your insights, and your feelings of the moment are of interest to us. This stuff should be saved for future reference. You may or maynot have this chance to savor France/Paris ever again. Saving these events and feelings will allow you to revisit this time in the future. It is strange how things that seem insignificant at the time gain significance with age. A shard from antiquity with a few words on it can have great significance in the here and now. Keep up your reporting please. And the photos, even a spider must know his neighborhood is going down hill with time, and so it goes. Uncle Sim
Love the photos…appreciate the entry on the blog….and smiled at your comment re: MJ, FF, etc. McMahon died of cancer and was a heavy drinker through life but…he was in the military in the old days so we have to cut him some slack. Yes, the media is absolutely crazy and it is ridiculous. We are looking forward to more brilliant comments and photos. Sounds like you two will be going through withdrawal from the pear juice. Love, G’ma
Oh yea…and Sinatra was just a womanizing mafia (actually Cosa Nostra which sounds so much more ???) guy….but hey…one has to have friends and support while being a great crooner. And then we have Bing Crosby that beat his children. If I find out that Julie Andrews was shooting up during Sound of Music I will have to stick forks in my eyes.
And Billy Mays has died from a possible knock on the head during a “hard landing” at the Tampa Airport yesterday. Geeeee…watch out!
